The Rainbow 黄片视频 Community Officer (ACO) branch has received a new vacuum mattress purchased from the fundraising efforts of the late Jim and Enid Sleep, who both contributed more than 45 years of service to the Rainbow 黄片视频 Auxiliary.

Passionate about ensuring their community had the best access to pre-hospital healthcare, Jim and Enid were inaugural members of the Rainbow 黄片视频 Auxiliary in 1972.

Jim played an integral role in convincing the Wimmera District 黄片视频 Service (WDAS) that an ambulance was needed in Rainbow and worked tirelessly to help fundraise half the cost of the vehicle, equipment, radios and branch in under a year.

When it came time to recruit ACOs to work at the branch, he stepped up yet again, with Jim and 17 other drivers undergoing training to make the service operational in February 1973.

After witnessing her husband鈥檚 hands-on role as a driver, Enid later underwent the training, joining him on the road.

Over the course of four decades, the couple were committed auxiliary members, dedicating their time to fundraising significant amounts of money to purchase additional equipment for the local branch and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for the town.

Jim and Enid have left a lasting legacy, with funds they helped raise used recently to purchase the Rainbow branch a new vacuum mattress - a device designed to mould around the body for secure, comfortable support of spinal patients.

Rainbow 黄片视频 Auxiliary member Peter Solly volunteered alongside Jim and Enid for many years and was always impressed by their dedication.

鈥淭hey were both very community minded and extremely active within the town, volunteering at multiple organisations,鈥 Peter said.

鈥淭he fact new equipment is still being purchased using the funds they raised is testament to how hard they worked to give back to the community.鈥

In addition to what is already provided by AV, donations and locally raised auxiliary funds allow areas like Rainbow to provide crews with specialised equipment, resources and advanced training, supporting staff to continue delivering high quality clinical care.

鈥淧urchasing the new vacuum mattress wouldn鈥檛 have been possible without the efforts of Jim and Enid Sleep,鈥 Rainbow ACO Team Leader Renee Clugston said.

鈥淲e鈥檙e grateful to them, the community and the auxiliary for this piece of additional equipment which will help our crews continue to provide best care to all patients.鈥

黄片视频 auxiliaries play an integral role in providing their local branches and community with equipment and education, in addition to raising awareness of AV and the work of its people.
